Romans 5:1–11
Grace that Changes us

Paul reminds us that through Jesus Christ we have peace with God, access to grace, and hope that does not disappoint.

Many people assume faith should make life easier. We may hope that if we trust God, pray, worship, and try to do the right thing, suffering will stay away. But Paul does not say that. Romans 5 does not teach that suffering is good or that God causes pain. Instead, it reminds us that grace means suffering does not get the final word.

In this sermon, we explore how God’s grace gives us a place to stand, how grace holds us in suffering, and how God’s love has been poured into our hearts through the Holy Spirit.

In this message, you will learn:

• Why peace with God is more than a calm feeling
• What it means to stand in grace
• Why suffering does not get the final word
• How God can form endurance, character, and hope in hard seasons
• Why hope rests on God’s love, not our ability to stay positive
• How Christ’s death and resurrection show that grace will not abandon us
